A Century of Trust: Spaces Designed for Today

Some businesses grow by keeping up. Others grow by staying true.
For more than a century, Pierce Flooring & Cabinet Design Center has quietly managed to do both, building an enduring legacy rooted in trust, fairness, and lasting relationships. Based in Montana since the early 1900s, Pierce has grown alongside the communities it serves, adapting to evolving design styles, products, and technology while holding fast to something increasingly rare: a people-first way of doing business.
That balance, between tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and care, is what makes Pierce feel timeless in a world that’s constantly shifting.

BUILT ON HISTORY, CARRIED FORWARD WITH INTENTION
Pierce’s story began more than 100 years ago, with George R. Pierce traveling Montana in a Model T and building a business grounded in relationships, reliability, and resourcefulness. Over the decades, that foundation expanded into flooring, cabinetry, and full design services, without losing the original spirit that shaped it.
Today, Pierce remains Montana-owned and deeply committed to the communities it serves. That longevity isn’t accidental. It’s the result of consistent values, careful growth, and a belief that how you treat people, employees, and clients alike matters just as much as what you sell.
It’s a philosophy that resonates strongly with Kimberly Wynia, the new Store Manager of the Billings Flooring & Cabinet Design Center.
“There’s so much opportunity at Pierce, more than I ever could have imagined,” Kimberly says. “We’re a Montana company that’s been around for over a hundred years. That still matters.”

THE PIERCE PROMISE
At the heart of the company is the Pierce Promise, a commitment that guides everything from the first showroom visit to long after installation day.
“Simple is better,” Kimberly explains. “At the end of the day, we really just want our clients to be happy.”
That promise means clients have one trusted partner overseeing their project from start to finish. Pierce provides free in-home measurements, employs its own installers, and advocates for clients if questions or issues arise, eliminating the runaround that can come with home projects.
“We’re basically going to do everything we can to advocate for you,” Kimberly says. “You’re being let into people’s intimate spaces. You need to treat it with care and respect.”
It’s a model that feels refreshingly human and increasingly rare.

A LEADER WHO LEADS BY LIFTING OTHERS
As Store Manager, Kimberly brings both design expertise and a people-first leadership style shaped by years in the industry and real-life experience.
“Function has to come first,” she says with a laugh. “I raised four kids; it has to work.”
That grounded perspective informs how she approaches both design and leadership. Rather than centering herself, Kimberly consistently points to her team, emphasizing their depth of experience and collaborative strength.
“Between the four of us, we have well over 50 years of design experience,” she says, referencing Bonnie Losett, Cabinet Project Coordinator, and Luisa Vasquez, Angie Mills, and Heather Lange, all Cabinet Project Managers. “They’re hungry to learn, they’re incredibly talented, and they care deeply about their clients.”
Kimberly sees her role as elevating that expertise and ensuring her team feels supported, valued, and visible.
“I really want to prop them up and show this amazing part of Pierce,” she says.

CABINET DESIGN THAT MEETS REAL LIFE
The Billings location is unique among Pierce stores. It’s the only one in the state with a full Cabinet Design Center. That means clients can explore cabinetry for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and more, all in one place, with experts guiding every step.
“We touch all flooring, tile, cabinets, countertops, and now we’re about to launch a brand-new rug department,” Kimberly says. “We wanted to be able to appeal to everybody, and that’s what we have.”
From builder-grade options to fully custom cabinetry, Pierce is intentionally accessible across price points, without compromising on quality or design.
“Everything from in-stock, best-price carpet up to really great fine wool,” Kimberly says. “Same idea with cabinets. There’s something for everyone.”
Design decisions are rooted in both aesthetics and longevity. The goal isn’t what looks good today, it’s what still feels right years from now.
“When you pick the right colors and do it thoughtfully, it does stand the test of time,” she says. “Even if it was put in years ago, it can look like it was installed last week.”

START TO FINISH & BEYOND
One of Pierce’s defining strengths is continuity. Clients aren’t passed from salesperson to installer to subcontractor. Instead, they’re guided by a team that stays engaged throughout the process.
“We have our own cabinet installers and our own flooring installers,” Kimberly says, “and our designers oversee the project from start to finish.”
That sense of responsibility extends beyond installation. Pierce remains a resource for maintenance questions, warranty support, and long-term care, reinforcing that the relationship doesn’t end when the project does.
A BUSINESS THAT FEELS LIKE HOME
There’s a warmth to Pierce that’s hard to quantify but easy to feel. It shows up in the way team members talk about their work, in the care taken with each project, and in the ease with which clients are welcomed into the showroom.
“All they have to do is walk in,” Kimberly says. “Come in and be inspired.”
In an era of fast trends and disposable design, Pierce stands out by doing something quietly powerful: honoring its past while thoughtfully embracing what’s next.
“It’s almost like the old way of doing business still exists here,” Kimberly says. “And that’s something really special.”
At Pierce Flooring & Cabinet Design Center, timeless doesn’t mean outdated. It means trusted. And in an ever-evolving world, that kind of consistency is exactly what keeps a business, and the people it serves, grounded.
