For Jarrett Smith of Branding Iron Construction, building homes isn’t just about the materials or the layout; it’s about family. Together with his son Tanner, Jarrett is crafting some of the most thoughtfully designed homes in Billings, Montana—and the stunning property at 6615 Rain Lily Drive is a testament to their legacy.

This beautiful modern prairie-style home combines clean lines, purposeful design, and upscale features. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural approach, it perfectly balances form and function.

One standout feature is the RV garage (not pictured), a dream space for those with fifth wheels or oversized campers. “It’s tall enough and long enough for a fifth wheel,” Jarrett explains. “It even has a 50-amp plug, clean-out, and its own thermostat-controlled heating and cooling system. You could live in your camper like a second home!” It's durable and versatile, with epoxy flooring and softened hot/cold water access.

Stepping inside, the open-concept great room takes your breath away. “This is my favorite part of the home,” Jarrett says. “It’s where everyone spends their time. The 10-foot island connects the kitchen to the living area, making it perfect for gatherings.”

The kitchen boasts high-end features, including a 36-inch professional dual-fuel range, quartz countertops from Stonewild, and a hidden butler’s pantry with a beverage center, microwave, and storage galore. The thoughtful details continue with an under-mount sink, recessed lighting, and an oversized 16-by-18-foot Pella sliding door that effortlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces. “Pella doors are fantastic,” Jarrett adds. “They actually tighten up when the wind blows—a big plus for efficiency.”

The primary suite offers the perfect retreat with direct access to the back patio. Inside, the master bath features a luxurious wet room concept with a freestanding tub, dual showerheads, and a textured tile finish installed by Home Yellowstone. “The wet room is one of those little touches that makes a big difference,” Jarrett says. “We even added hidden plugs in the cabinetry for shavers and toothbrushes. It’s all about function without sacrificing style.”

This home offers plentiful storage, from the spacious walk-in master closet to the strategically placed niches and cabinets throughout. With three bedrooms, a dedicated office, and single-level living, the home is tailored for empty nesters or those seeking low-maintenance luxury. A dog shower in the laundry room adds extra convenience for pet owners, with a cozy kennel right below, including retractable food and water bowls. “We’ve set up this house to be practical, comfortable, and stylish,” Tanner explains. “It’s designed for a lifestyle that values both quality and ease.”

Jarrett and Tanner take a hands-on approach. The Smiths are involved in every detail, with no foreman in the mix. “We care deeply about every house we build,” Jarrett shares. “When you have your name on it, you want it to be done right. We’re on-site daily, working alongside our subcontractors and ensuring everything is perfect.”

Growing up in the business has given Tanner a newfound appreciation for the trade. “I wasn’t sure I wanted to do this at first, but now I love it. It’s rewarding to build something lasting and to be part of growing the Billings community,” he says.

Every detail has been carefully chosen, from the cultured stone exterior completed by Apex Masonry to the LVP flooring that offers durability and style. Even the lighting, selected by Lori Patterson with One Source Lighting, adds warmth and elegance throughout the home.

As a builder and licensed realtor, Jarrett believes in keeping homes accessible while delivering premium quality. Whether you’re looking to buy, sell, or build your dream home, Jarrett has the expertise to guide you through the process. Jarrett’s advice is clear for those considering building: don’t wait. “The cost of labor and materials keeps rising, and Billings is only going to grow. If you’re dreaming of building, now’s the time.”

At Branding Iron Construction, the Smiths are creating homes that balance practicality, luxury, and craftsmanship—a true reflection of their dedication to the community and their family business. “We’re not just building houses,” Jarrett says with pride. “We’re building homes where families can create memories for generations.”
